Investa

Great close up effect where a signed card appears in a previously seen empty matchbox.

Jaunt

How to construct a simple gimmick to assist in invisibly adding cards to a previously counted pile.

I include a cards across routine where this gimmick is used to aid the transference of two thought of cards from one sealed envelope to another.

Dip Switch

A very strong and fooling billet effect using only your business cards and a pen.

Any desired information written on a business card (or any blank card) by an audience member can be ‘divined’.

The folded business card is simply placed on the handkerchief pocket of your jacket to be displayed to the audience at all times.

Penny For Your Thoughts

A paperback book (can be borrowed) is casually flicked through, you ask a spectator to call stop as you flick through the pages. The book is opened and the spectator looks at the first full word on that page. You close the book and hand it to someone to clarify that the book is unprepared and all words are different. You proceed to reveal the word in your chosen manner.

You do not need to see the book before performance and all is done ‘live’ as above.

Deja Vu

Great stage, parlour or cabaret opener (or anytime in your show).

A card is chosen from an imaginary pack of cards by a process of elimination using many members of the audience.

This imaginary card is then placed into an imaginary little coin envelope.

You remove from your pocket a real unsealed envelope which you show to be empty.

The spectator ‘throws’ the imaginary envelope towards your envelope, you pretend to catch it and seal it inside your real envelope.

When you open the envelope you show there is now a real coin envelope inside, and inside that is a real playing card, the one they chose.

Can be performed surrounded.

Dupe

You hand two audience members a business card each. One draws a picture and the other writes the name of a playing card that they stopped at in a shuffled pack.

They are each then handed a small opaque envelope and instructed to place their cards inside, sealing the envelope.

You have some audience members inspect the sealed envelopes to confirm that nothing can be seen of the contents. You retrieve the envelopes one at a time and reveal what is written or drawn in an entertaining manner.

All that is required are some envelopes, business cards (or any small card or piece of paper and a couple of pens.

News – Coming Soon!

Prediction effect – You hand out a prediction envelope and have the audience member think of a number between one and sixteen.

You now take a sheet of newspaper and proceed to tear it into pieces.

The audience member announces the number, you count down from the top of the torn paper to the number chosen and have them look for the most prominent headline/ print on the piece of paper.

After they read out the words from the torn piece of newspaper you have them open the envelope to reveal the prediction inside. The prediction is shown to match.

My take on the classic prediction effect.
